Expanding Access to Civil Justice in California


Justice Access Foundation (JAF) is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation and prospective 501(c)(3) public charity. Our mission is to expand access to the civil legal system, protect due process rights, and work to prevent housing instability, wage theft, and exploitation affecting individuals and families in California who lack adequate legal resources.


Program Areas

Housing icon

Preventing Housing Instability Legal education, procedural information, and referral coordination for low-income residents facing housing proceedings and eviction actions in California.

Wage protection icon

Wage Protection and Economic Justice Access to legal information and resources for workers facing unpaid wages, unlawful payroll deductions, or other forms of wage theft under California and federal law.

Court navigation icon

Procedural Fairness and Court Navigation Support Assistance for self-represented individuals in understanding civil court procedures, response deadlines, and filing requirements. JAF does not provide legal representation.

Legal education icon

Public Legal Education and Literacy Plain-language legal information in English, Spanish, and Chinese (Simplified) supporting informed participation in legal proceedings.


Governance Integrity

JAF is governed by an independent volunteer Board of Directors. No director receives compensation. All governance decisions are made by the Board without influence from donors, commercial entities, or affiliated organizations. Financial activity is disclosed annually through IRS Form 990 public filings.

Your contribution supports charitable programs serving Californians in need of civil legal access. JAF is seeking 501(c)(3) public charity status (EIN: [TBD]). Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. No donor contribution confers any right to influence organizational governance or program decisions.
